Remembering the 66 victims of violence in Louisville during 2009
On Sunday, December 6th Ridgewood Baptist joined sister church Highland in their
annual observance of placing crosses on the lawn in memory of those killed in acts
of violence in our city. These crosses bear witness to our commitment to
making peace a reality in our community.
Members brave the cold to place their crosses on the front lawn.
This solemn ceremony takes place on the 2nd Sunday of Advent, which represents Peace.
Pastor Joe Phelps, who started the tradition of placing crosses on the lawn on the second Sunday of Advent 12 years ago at Highland Baptist. This is the first year Ridgewood has joined in this tradition.
