On May 16th, 2009, SWCM will host the Southwest River Ramble. This is the third annual walk along the river which starts at Riverside, Farnsley-Moreman House and proceeds along the walk on the flood wall and ends at Riverview Park at the end of Greenwood Road. How does Soutwest Community Ministries help our community?
- SWCM delivered 12,171 Meals on Wheels in 2008.
- SWCM provided emergency financial assistance to 962 households, sending $69,034 to utility companies and area landlords.
- SWCM provided food to 7,424 people between July 1 and Dec. 31, 2008.
- SWCM spent $14,071 for medicine, glasses and/or medical equipment for 164 people between July 1 and Dec, 31, 2008.
- SWCM served more than 650 children in Back To School program and almost 240 children in our Kids Christmas program in 2008.
Needs and Announcements
- RBC is now collecting bars of soap year-round to be handed out to families utilizing the Food Pantry. The basket for donations is in the Foyer.
- SWCM is in need of a new freezer.
- The Farmers Market will return to Valley High School this spring and summer. Shop there for KY Proud produce and products every Saturday morning.
